It doesn't get much better than blackbirds for subject matter.  It's one of the rarest and most desirable of all Daum decorations.  This particular example has better color than most, with blue in the sky and some yellow in the snow.  It's a beauty, for the best collections.   Lovely pillow vase shape, with an oval mouth.  4" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

It doesn't get much better than blackbirds.  This example is the largest one I've had in quite some time.  The shape is great with an irregular rim.  It's not quite square, but rather slightly rectangular.  The blackbirds and trees are really well done with lots of snow flying in the air.  It's truly a gem for the best collections.  4¼" tall x 5¾" long x 5¼" wide.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Daum didn't make much better subject matter than blackbirds.  This example is one of the best I've ever owned.  It's good-sized at 8¾" tall, with a beautiful shape.  There are many blackbirds, with excellent blue and yellow in the background.  You couldn't ask for a finer example.  For the best collections.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Daum Blackbird vases are quite rare and desirable. I get only one or two  a year, so I was very pleased when I was offered this lovely, diminutive example, 3¾" tall. Daum doesn't get better than this lamp. I can't remember the last time I had a Daum lamp that was this rare and beautiful. The gorgeous bleeding hearts flowers and leaves were first etched and then hand-painted, followed by firing (making them permanent). Bleeding hearts are lovely flowers that I grow in my shade garden. They are depicted beautifully on this Daum Nancy miniature tumbler. The colors of the flowers contrast splendidly with the pinks, oranges and yellow mottling in the background. It's a really special example. 2" tall. The detail on this vase is so exquisite, the flowers look real.  Additionally, there are fine gilded lines painted in the flowers and stems to add even more detail.  The vase is even dated, a real rarity, 18 Octobre 1900, in gold, near the foot.  Vases with gilding are usually gilded on the rim and foot, as this one is.  The signature is gilded too, on the underside.  7¾".  Mint condition.

Bleeding hearts are beautiful flowers that bloom in early spring. They're beautiful in person and just as beautiful as depicted on this vase. The colors and workmanship are truly superior. Add to the mix the monumental size of 13¾" and you have an important vase. It's rare to get such fine acid-etching and enameling on a Daum vase of this size. Most examples are much smaller. Gallé produced many more different models of blownout vases than Daum.  This scenic vase is Daum's best blownout vase.  It comes in a few variations, with this color scheme being the best.  The colors are gorgeous and intense.  Now what's really different is that there is wheel-carving of a scene in the background of a town and a church steeple.  This is the only model of blownout vase for both Daum and Gallé that has wheel-carving.  It makes for a rare and spectacular vase.  To top it off, this is the best color that I have ever seen in this model.  The condition is pristine.  11½" tall.   Signed.

Daum did not execute as many different models in blownout vases as Gallé.  This scenic is the most famous of Daum's blownouts and comes in different color variations.  This is the rare blue version.  The main trees are blownout and the detail in the background between the trees is wheel-carved.  This vase is a real beauty besides being rare.  11½".  Signed.  Mint condition.  (#51235)

Daum made this model of blownout vase in different color combinations. This green and orange variation is the most colorful. The detail between the tree trunks is wheel-carved and includes a town with a church steeple. It's a gorgeous example.  Very nice size at 11¼" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition. 

All blownout vases are a step up from standard vases.  Daum made far fewer different models than Galle.  This scenic model comes in four variations, representing the seasons.  This rare variation with purple, blue and yellow is probably winter.  It's killer, with wheel-carved detail of trees and foliage between the trees.  Very nice size at 11¼" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

This exciting Daum blue floral vase is very sophisticated. The glass was layered when it was molten, first with a deep blue layer, then with a pale green layer. When the vase was cold it went through the standard acid-etching process, which revealed the flowers and leaves. What makes it special is what happened next. All of the flowers, buds and background were wheel-carved. This required a highly skilled craftsman who spent hours creating the incredible detail which is only possible with wheel-carving. It's a masterpiece. Nice big size at 12" tall and bulbous. Fancy engraved signature along the foot rim. Mint condition.

This wonderful Daum Nancy bowl was first acid-etched and then hand-painted with crushed glass enamel paint in the mistletoes and then gilded detail was added by hand-painting to all of the leaves, branches, lettering, the rim and foot. Finally the bowl was fired again to make the enameling and gilding permanent. Rare interior and exterior decoration. "Verrerie Parlant" vase, "Au Gui l'An Neuf" which roughly translated means "With mistletoe, to the New Year". The condition is perfect. The vase measures 4½" tall x 10½" diameter. Signed. (#50910)

Beautiful pinched bowl with acid-etched flowers of different colors.  It's quite unusual to find different color varieties of the same flower on one object and this one is a beauty!  6" diameter.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Bowls don't come much nicer than this. Strong blue thistle flowers on a shaded frosted to yellow to pink mottled background. Gilded rim with gilded details to all the stems and leaves. Big size at 3" tall x 8" diameter. Gilded signature. Mint original condition with tiny acid burn on the rim that has been gilded over at the factory (only mentioned for accuracy). Just the best quality box with the finest precision-painted decoration.  The enameling and acid-etching were done by one of Daum's finest craftsmen.  Just superior quality throughout in this rare box.  Wonderful en grisaille hand-painted scene on the lid.  Signed.  Mint condition.  2¼" tall x 5" diameter.

The broken egg may be my favorite shape in Daum.  It comes in a few sizes, with this one being medium, 4" tall.  It's the most beautiful example of a broken egg that I've ever owned.  The flowers are acid-etched and enameled, but what's spectacular are the gilded tips of the flowers -- never saw that before.  The background is super, shading from a rich green to aubergine at the bottom.  Once there is any gilding in a Daum vase, it is frequently found in other parts, so the rim and the base both have gilding.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Isn't this vase a beauty? It's decorated with lovely carnations, martelé wheel-carved in the background and fire-polished. Sophisticated and top-quality. 5¾" tall. Fancy engraved, gilded signature on the underside. Mint condition.

I don't get many Daum chandeliers, so I'm quite pleased to have acquired this one.  It's exceptionally pretty with very deep indigo grapes on a vivid background with heavily mottled purple shading to yellow with orange mottles.  The overall drop from the ceiling is 35", but that can be adjusted either way, depending on the height of your ceiling.  The diameter is 16".   I really love this one.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Daum floral salts are rarer than scenic ones.  This one is beautifully acid-etched and painted with columbine flowers.  A great addition to any salt collection.  Priced to sell quickly.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Daum tumblers came in several shapes from round to square to diamond.  This classic round tumbler has been expertly etched, hand-painted and fired.  The colors and workmanship of the columbine flowers are superb.  It's a superior example.  5" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Columbine flowers are lovely, so Daum repeated this decoration on many different shaped vases.  This example is a classical form in a very nice cabinet-sized version, 8" tall.  Carefully acid-etched and enameled to create realistic, beautiful flowers.  Signed.  Mint condition.

The term solifleur literally translated from French means lone flower, but in English it's referred to as a bud vase. It's a very desirable shape that is collected by many collectors.

This example is exceptional, with vivid blue cornflowers and black pine cones. The techniques are acid-etching, hand-painted enameling and gilding. Together they create a masterful level of sophistication and beauty.

The quality and detail on Daum miniature vases is what many people admire.  This example has the very desirable pillow shape with beautiful cornflowers and excellent color and contrast.  Signed.  Mint condition.

I remember when auctioneers used to say "Change your tune" when a very fine item was coming to the block.  OK, well, change your tune!  This is a superb example of Daum's work.  First there is the very desirable shape.  More importantly is the great color and decoration.  When do you see such beautiful, vivid, blue cornflowers on a peach background with blue mottling, shading first to green (for the grass) and then to intense blue (for the soil)?  What a great vase!  Nice size at 7¼" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

A Daum covered egg is a rare and desirable shape. It's especially desirable when the decoration is beautiful, as it is in this case, with colorful purple and red tulips growing from the bottom, against a lovely shaded orange to green background. Additionally there is extensive use of gilding for the detail in the leaves, stems and branches. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in quality. 4¼" tall. Gilded signature underneath, together with an original sticker from the retailer, Majorelle. Mint condition.

What a cool item! Most Daum items with two parts are covered boxes. It's quite rare to find a covered jar, with a correct, original lid. The decoration is just beautiful with white flowers, green leaves and brown branches on a highly mottled yellow to orange background. It's Goldilocks-sized, just right. 4½" tall x 5¼" diameter. Cranes in flight is rare subject matter.  This is a beautifully executed vase, with fine detailing, gilding and internal flourishes of burgundy.  4" tall x 4¼" diameter.  Signed.  Mint condition.

The techniques are acid-etching, hand-painted enameling and gilding, which all make for one great vase. The footed shape is elegant. I've seen a lot of Daum glass in my career, but this is a rarity I've never seen before.  It's a creamer with acid-etched and enameled decoration of a mother and child in the forest on a rainy day -- fantastic.  On the other side are acid-etched and enameled pink and lavender bell flowers.  There are traces of gilding on the rim and handle.  3" tall x 3" diam.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Ewers are highly desirable because the shape is more unusual and decorative than most vases.  In addition, the applied handle is an important additional step.  The beautiful crocus flowers were first acid-etched and then intricately detailed by hand with enamel paints and fired.  From the top, the decoration is of leaves, vines and seed pods.  There are gilded details to the veining in the leaves and stems as well as the highlights to the handle, top rim and stopper.  The stopper is hand-carved with diagonal faceting on both sides.  Many times the stoppers are lost or damaged.  This is a killer ewer destined for the best collections.  Nice size at 9¾".  Signed.  Mint condition.

Daum wheel-carved the background of this vase to resemble hammered copper.  It's called martelé and was done only to better quality vases.  The flowers are beautifully colored crocuses.  Nice cabinet size at 7½".  Fancy engraved, gilded Daum signature on the underside (because the same person signed it as did the martelé work).  Mint condition.

Rare covered cruet with enameled scene of sailboats and windmill. Signed. Perfect condition. (#10618)

This bottle is not quite a miniature as it's 3" tall.  Bottles are rare and very desirable because there are two pieces of glass involved.  This example is really special and beautiful.  Cyclamen flowers are beautiful in nature and they are exceptionally well painted here, with great color and exquisite detail.  The background is gorgeous, shading to pink (even more visible in person) and then to green at the bottom for the grass.  The gilding is another bonus, on the lid, top rim, foot rim, vines and veins in some leaves.  Overall, one of the best Daum items and one of my favorites.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Broken eggs come in various sizes and are among  the best shapes that Daum ever made.  This example is 3" tall, larger than the miniature broken egg, but still diminutive.  The subject matter of cyclamen flowers is moderately rare.  The detail is well-painted, with gilded lines in the leaves.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Cyclamen flowers are beautiful in real life and almost as beautiful on Daum vases.  This mini vase, 3½" tall, has superb detail, as well as gilded details, rim and foot.  It's a little beauty, acid-etched, enameled and gilded.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Scenic salts are more common than floral ones.  Not sure why, but that's been my observation.  What makes this oval salt even rarer is the very pretty cyclamen floral decoration in two colors -- red flowers on one side and purple on the other.  Beautifully detailed, with gilded lines in the leaves.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Daum Nancy liked to use cyclamen flowers for many of their vases. Makes sense. They're beautiful. This example take the level of sophistication way up because all of the detail int he flowers and background is hand-carved. The technique is called wheel-carving or intaglio-cutting. Only the finest craftsmen had the skill to pull it off successfully. Wheel-carving results in a level of detail that is impossible with acid-etching. The same technique was used to create the martelé texture in the background. Then to add to the sophistication, green handles were applied when the glass was molten, and even they were partially wheel-carved with martelé texture. Even the signature underneath, DAUM NANCY, together with the Cross of Lorraine, is a work of art. It was hand-engraved by the same carver and then gilded to make it stand out. At 9½" tall, it's the perfect cabinet size. Museum quality for the best collections.

I don't know where to begin describing the virtues of this lovely little vase. First is the artistry of the incredibly colorful and detailed orange and purple cyclamen flowers and leaves. They're against a shaded pink mottled background that is stupendous. Next is the gilded foot and rim that add a nice level of sophistication. Finally there is the very desirable solifleur (bud vase) shape. It's got to be one of the prettiest solifleur vases I've ever owned. 5" tall. Signed. Mint condition.

Isn't this Daum Nancy vase lovely? After acid-etching, it was hand-engraved (wheel-carved), -- a technique mastered only by the most skilled craftsmen.
