Most of the time the subject matter is more important than the shape of a vase. This is one of those times when the shape is as or more important. This Gallé canoe shape (in French referred to as a crescent moon) is rare and beautiful. The sailboat subject matter, the color and the workmanship are all excellent. This lovely, diminutive, 4¾", Gallé vase with fuchsia decoration has a lot going for it. Most of all are the rich, gorgeous colors, but also the superior workmanship. Magnolias are impressive flowers in person and equally impressive when depicted on Gallé vases. This example has exquisite red flowers on a frosted background with a tinge of yellow. The banjo shape is one of Gallé's most popular. I know of several collectors around the world who collect this shape and have 70-100 each in their collections. This example is different, as it's oversized. Most banjo vases are 7". This one is 10¼", so it's rarer. Roses are great subject matter and these roses have wonderful color against a strong yellow background. It's a really special example. Signed in cameo on the side. Mint condition.

The earliest glass by Gallé was primarily sold in their Crystallerie shop in the 1890s. It's substantially different than the later acid-etched glass. Early Gallé glass is often hand-painted with glass enamel paint and fired. This beautiful egg-shaped jar has floral enamel decoration and gilding, finely detailed, on a snowflake etched background. It's quite fine. 4½" tall. Fancy etched signature underneath. Mint condition.

There are lots of Gallé banjo vases for sale, but only a small percentage of them are of outstanding quality. The form was very popular when it was new and it still is today. This is one of the outstanding examples. The workmanship is highly detailed and the colors are strong. It's exactly what you would want if you only wanted to own a single example of a banjo vase.

Gallé Crystallerie items are the earliest production, dating from the 1880s to the 1890s. They are almost always transparent, with different types of workmanship and different shapes. The focus of this vase is a lakeside scene painted en grisaille (all one color, in this case black). It is surrounded by colorful floral decoration painted in enamel, which has been fired. On the reverse, there is an enameled butterfly. Gilding was used for the fine detail in the brances and stems, as well as the geometric decoration around the rim. Not too big, not too small, at 5" tall. Perfect enameled signature on the underside. Mint condition.

Gallé blownout vases are moderately rare and desirable. Gallé blownout lamps are still rarer. This lovely Clematis example is boudoir-sized at 12¼" tall, with an 8" diameter shade. The attractive colors are pastel blue for the flowers, aubergine for the leaves and yellow for the background. Signed in cameo on both the shade and base. Mint condition. For the best collections.

The Lake Como scenic vase is one of Gallé's rarest and most desirable. It's a nice big size at 10" tall and bulbous. The scene is continuous and beautiful, with strong blue and purple colors. This example has wonderful detail. For the best collections! Signed. Mint condition.

All Gallé blownout vases are desirable, but some more than others. This model with water lilies is one of the best. It comes in several color variations, this being one of the rarest and prettiest, with green flowers on a sky blue background. Signed in cameo on the side. 10" tall. Mint condition. Most of the Gallé vases I sell are medium-sized, usually 12" or less. This extraordinary, monumental example measures 19½" tall. It's got gorgeous red trumpet flowers against a yellow background. It's not often I get Gallé blownout vases of this quality.  Let's start with the great detail and workmanship. Then let's go to the color -- gorgeous deep amber plums, with a tinge of red. Then the blownoutosity (I made up that word) -- the plums are really blownout, realistic, and completely encircling the vase.  Finally the impressive size -- 12½" tall and bulbous. It's a wonderful, important vase that belongs in the best collections.

Change your tune on this Galle lamp! I don't get many Galle lamps and certainly not of this quality. It's fresh from a Florida estate. Standing 21" tall, it's impressive, with beautiful color and detail. Collectors always like the shade and base to match (many even from the factory don't match well) and this example is outstanding. Undersea subject matter is very rare for Gallé. The detail and colors on this example are fantastic, making the vase look like you're viewing the vegetation while snorkeling. Gallé produced many scenic vases, most frequently in shades of brown and green. The blue scenes have mountains, as does this large, 14" example. The workmanship is superior and the color and detail are beautiful. Signed in cameo. Mint condition.

There's nothing more Art Nouveau than spider webs. This incredible Gallé vase has acid-etched red spider webs on a clear background. The red cut-to-blue leaves have been intricately wheel-carved by hand for incredible detail. Fancy acid-etched signature on the underside, together with a wheel-carved leaf. When do you ever see wheel-carving on the bottom?? A really great vase for the best collections. 6½" tall. Mint condition.

All Gallé blownout vases are good and this example excellent Crocus vase. The colors are lovely blues and purples on a lemon yellow background. Beautiful color, condition and shape. 8" tall. Signed. Mint condition.

A dragonfly adds at least 50% to the value of two nearly identical vases. This example is quite rare because the huge dragonfly is paired with iris flowers, instead of the usual water lilies. The colors are lovely -- pastel blue and lavender on a frosted background. And it's big, at 17¾" tall. Cameo signature near the base. Mint condition.

The rose-red color on this Clematis blownout vase is outstanding, in part because of the additional white glass layer under the flowers, making them more opaque and richer.  Most blownout vases do not have this extra layer of color.  It's an exceptional example in mint condition. Signed. 6½".

Isn't this Gallé vase wonderful? The subject matter of maple leaves is quite unusual and very well don. The color, contrast, workmanship, size and shape are what make it special. With very deep etching, the leaves are three-dimensional, continuing all around the vase. The shape is superb, with a footed base. Lastly, it's big at 16½" tall. Just a beautiful vase at a fair price. Cameo signature on the side. Mint condition.

I love the flattened-triangle shape of this Gallé Chrysanthemum vase. It's one of my favorite. The flower is great too because it's big and showy. Now add the great red color to the beautiful yellow background and you've got one winner of a vase. Very nice size at 8" tall x 8¼" wide. This will be a great addition to any French cameo glass collection. Signed. Mint condition.

I can't get enough Galle dragonfly vases.  They're moderately rare, very Art Nouveau and very desirable.  Just got this wonderful example, moderately large at 11" tall.  Signed "*Gallé".  Mint condition.

Gallé didn't often use frosted backgrounds for floral vases. Some people don't care for them, but I love them. The flowers have truer color and the contrast with the background always make them stand out. This is a large (14¼"), beautiful vase with pastel pink flowers and soft brown leaves. If you saw these colors on clothing, you would say they match perfectly. Very fairly priced for a monumental vase. Signed in cameo on the side. Mint condition.

Is this Gallé vase pretty or what? Fabulous color and detail, as well as an extra layer of color to make this a truly outstanding vase. 10" tall, but seeming bigger because the vase is bulbous. Roses are beautiful in nature and are equally beautiful when depicted on Gallé vases. This example has hot pink flowers, branches and leaves on a pale yellow background, giving the flowers nice contrast. The shape is slightly oval and lovely. Nice size at 9¾" tall. This example of a Gallé water lily vase has much better color, contrast and detail than the usual. It's a very fine example with a classic, flattened shape called a pilgrim vase. The size is very nice at 8¾" tall. Signed. Mint condition.

Sometimes a certain Gallé vase is a cut above the rest. This particular example has it all going for it. First are the really beautiful blue trumpet flowers, with strong color on a strong amber background. Next is the use of the windowpane technique, which puts a colorless pane behind each flower, so the yellow of the background doesn't mix with the blue of the flowers to form green flowers. The form is classic, with big shoulders. Additionally the decoration completely surrounds the entire vase, so there is no front or back. 5½" tall x 6" diameter. Signed in cameo on the side. Most Galle vases have only two layers of colored glass for the decoration, so I get excited when they have three. This example has a darker green layer on top, then a blue-green layer in the middle, and a blue layer on the bottom. That allows color effects and variations that can't be achieved with fewer layers. The flowers are really blue, with beautifully detailed and colorful leaves and stems. Pretty shape. Good size at 6½" tall x 5" diameter. Signed. Mint condition.

I wish I were a botanist so I could identify all of Gallé's flowers, but unfortunately I'm not. The flowers look like clematis, but I don't think they are. What's special is the windowpane technique used to keep the flowers blue. Otherwise the yellow background would mix with the blue flowers, making them appear green.  It's a lovely vase, 5" tall x 6½" diameter.  Signed in cameo on the side.  Mint condition.

I've owned many Gallé boxes over the years, but never one this small and attractive. It's decorated with intense indigo morning glory flowers on a deep salmon background. 4" long x 2½" wide. Signed in cameo on both the lid and the box. Mint condition.

The color on this Gallé vase is a 10, making it a special example. With excellent workmanship and detail, it will make a nice addition to your collection. It's rare to find a Galle blownout vase with an extra layer of color, in this case, white.  It creates better contrast and opacity, making the flowers even more realistic.  This is a special example.  6½" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

This is a killer example of a Gallé blue-purple scenic vase.  The color is as good as it gets.  The detail is superb and the flattened shape, with a fancy foot, is great.  What more could you ask?  Nice size at 8¾" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

All blownout vases are a step up from standard vases.  Daum made far fewer different models than Galle.  This scenic model comes in four variations, representing the seasons.  This rare variation with purple, blue and yellow is probably winter.  It's killer, with wheel-carved detail of trees and foliage between the trees.  Very nice size at 11¼" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Clematis flowers are difficult to grow, but spectacular when in bloom.  This Galle example has a classical shape, in a great 12" size.   Windowpane technique was used to keep the flowers blue, otherwise the yellow background would mix with the blue of the flowers, making them appear green.  It's a wonderful vase.  Signed.  Mint condition.

I'm very fond of vases with white frosted backgrounds.  They makes the primary colors really pop.  The blues and purples on this gorgeous scenic vase look great.  Couple that with super workmanship and detail, and you've got one fine vase.  The shape is classic and very nice.  Substantial size at 13½" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.
