Abutilon flowers don't grow in the east because they can't take the cold, so the first time I saw the flower on a vase, I couldn't identify it. Then I got help from a gentleman in California who was growing the flower. It's a pretty flower that's depicted beautifully on this vase, utilizing the windowpane technique, so the pink-red of the flowers doesn't mix with the yellow of the background. Great footed shape, 6½" tall x 6½" diameter. Signed in cameo on the side of the vase. Mint condition.

Gallé blownout vases with an extra layer of color are rarer and more attractive than vases without one. In this case the white layer creates better contrast and opacity, making the flowers pop.  This is a special example.  6½" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Gallé blownout vases were produced in molds. Subject matter varies from flowers to fruit to animals. They are all rarer and more desirable than most vases that are not blownout. Standard acid-etching techniques were used after the molten glass was formed in a mold with compressed air.

Crocus blownout vases come in a variety of colors. This example, with pink-red crocus flowers, is exceptionally pretty. And a nice little added touch is the original Gallé sticker on the bottom ETABLTS GALLÉ·PARIS·NANCY and hand-numbered 31873.

This fantastic example is a blownout Hyacinth vase. It's quite special because the color is vibrant and the technique is windowpane. This technique framed the flowers with no color behind them, so the yellow color of the background doesn't mix with the red of the flowers (creating orange flowers).

Magnolia is a very showy flower. It's colorful and beautiful, with superior workmanship. The shape is also lovely, because it's slightly flattened, with an oval mouth. The 9¾" size is substantial and perfect for a cabinet. Very fancy Gallé cameo signature on the side of the vase. Mint condition.

Gallé Plum blownout vases come in two configurations; one slender and one bulbous, like this example. It's big and very impressive! Gallé scenic vases come in all size, shapes and colors. The vases with mountains, like this example, come in great colors, with purple, blue and green. The frosted background allows the color of the trees not to mix with the background color. That's why the contrast  and the color are so lovely. The shape is the classical teardrop form. At 8" tall, it's the perfect cabinet size. The signature Gallé is acid-etched in the background, toward the bottom of the vase. Mint condition.

Beautifully decorated with abutilon flowers, buds and leaves (thanks to Stanley Fong for help in identifying the flower). The flowers are big and beautiful with finely detailed work and impressive red and yellow colors. The technique is multiple acid etchings, followed by wheel-polishing of the flowers and leaves. This is a color combination that I've never owned before. The anemone flowers are yellow-orange with green-brown centers. The leaves are green-brown, but edged with yellow-orange because of the additional layer of glass. The background is a most unusual green, a real rarity in Gallé vases. The banjo shape is one of Gallé's most popular. Collectors who collect by shape are very attracted to it. The difference here is that this example is oversized. Most banjo vases are 7". This one is the much rarer 10" model.

This is a really special example of a banjo because of the killer colors. Most banjo vases have ordinary color but this is tan on strong pink on a great blue background. The color is a 10! Fine quality banjo scenic vase with excellent details in the trees due to an extra acid cutting. The nice pale green background is unusual. 6¾". Signed. Excellent condition with some slight grinding on the foot rim in the front and back, original to the making. In other words, this was done at the factory to eliminate some flaws that were seen. It is only mentioned for complete accuracy and does not affect the value or desirability of the vase.

Gallé made many scenic vases, but few of them of the quality of this vase. The scene is the Basilica of St.-Nicholas-de-Port in the small town of Saint-Nicolas-de-Port, in the east of France, near Nancy. The quality, color and detail are amazing. I guess you would call the cathedral the front of the vase, but the back is even better.

The cameo signature "Gallé" is found in the background, toward the bottom of the vase.

The shape is quite nice -- flattened, with a soft shoulder. It's a wonderful, monumental vase, 17" tall, belonging in the best collections.

Very rare subject matter of a beetle and oak leaves on this wonderful vase. Rich earth-tone colors. Acid-etched, followed by wheel-polishing. 5" tall x 6¼" diameter. Very fancy signature. Mint condition.

This is an earlier period vase as evidenced by the high attention to detail. The workmanship on this vase is especially fine with precise acid-etching and careful wheel-polishing. The result is a top quality vase with rare subject matter of two cranes, in the Japanese manner, flying over a rural city with the famous gothic cathedral of Strasbourg in Alsace. 13½". Signed. Quality really does vary for Gallé vases, from extraordinary to ordinary. It's easy to see the quality in this vase. The flowers have great color, the detail is superb, the shape is wonderful, the size is perfect (12½"). The technique was first acid-etching, followed by wheel-polishing, so the flowers have a semi-gloss sheen, while the background is matte. Additionally, the flowers are "window-pane", meaning there is a white window behind each flower, making the color true, and not mixed with the yellow background. Signed. Mint condition.

Galle didn't produce many blue floral vases, so they're more uncommon than other colors.  This example has exceptional color, especially because the flowers are windowpane technique (no color behind the flowers).  The shape is very graceful and the size is substantial, at 12½".  Signed.  Mint condition.

This is a striking vase with beautiful blue marguerite flowers.  The technique is acid-etching accompanied by window-pane which makes the flowers clearly blue except near the edges, where the yellow glass mixes with the blue to show green.  The frosted background is perfect to give the flowers excellent contrast.  Nice size at 9½".  Signed.  Mint condition.

This is just a gorgeous vase with superior color.  The daisy-like flowers are blue with lavender highlights against a yellow ground.  Windowpane technique was used to keep the flowers blue, otherwise the yellow background of the flowers would mix with the blue of the flowers making them appear green.  The color is deep purple at the base, where there is very little acid-etching.  To finish the vase, the flowers and leaves were wheel-polished to give them a semi-gloss finish, against a matte finish for the

Bleeding hearts are lovely flowers that bloom early and prefer cool weather.  Gallé vases with this flower are usually very pretty and this example is no exception. Gallé produced approximately 50 different varieties of blownout (mold-blown) vases. This example is of Apple Blossoms. It's a rare, important vase in a nice big size, 13¾". The color varies quite a bit from example to example. This one has striking color.

Gallé produced only about fifty different models of blownout vases.  The chrysanthemum model is so rare that this is only the second time I've ever seen one.  The first time I saw one, I tried to photograph it, but the dealer sold it to someone who didn't want it photographed.  Then I had the opportunity to buy this exquisite example and jumped at it.  So now you know how rare it is.  You can see how beautiful it is with three exquisite red flowers in different displays of bloom.  All in all, a superb vase for the discriminating collector.  7¼" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Blownout vases are rarer and more desirable than their non-blownout counterparts. This model with clematis flowers comes in several color variations. This example, with yellow flowers, is one of the rarest and most beautiful, with striking colors. Perfect cabinet size at 9" tall and bulbous. Cameo signature on the side of the vase Gallé.
