Wheel-carving is a technique that only the finest craftsmen were capable of, as it required great skill and intensive labor. But the results were always superb with details only possible with this technique.

This example is Daum at its finest. It's totally wheel-carved from top to bottom, with exquisite work in the flowers and leaves, as well as a martelé-textured background. Once you add two martelé handles, you raise the level to museum-quality.

Nice cabinet size at 8¼". Beautiful hand-engraved and gilded signature underneath, DAUM NANCY, together with the Cross of Lorraine. Mint condition.
