Gallé scenic vases come in all size, shapes and colors. The vases with mountains, like this example, come in great colors, with purple, blue and green. The frosted background allows the color of the trees not to mix with the background color. That's why the contrast  and the color are so lovely. The shape is the classical teardrop form. At 8" tall, it's the perfect cabinet size. The signature Gallé is acid-etched in the background, toward the bottom of the vase. Mint condition.

Gallé Plum blownout vases come in two configurations; one slender and one bulbous, like this example. It's big and very impressive! The color is magnificent (and I've owned many, so I can say that with authority), with blue-purple plums. 13" tall. Cameo signature toward the top Gallé. Mint condition. Fantastic!

Magnolia is a very showy flower. It's colorful and beautiful, with superior workmanship. The shape is also lovely, because it's slightly flattened, with an oval mouth. The 9¾" size is substantial and perfect for a cabinet. Very fancy Gallé cameo signature on the side of the vase. Mint condition.

This fantastic example is a blownout Hyacinth vase. It's quite special because the color is vibrant and the technique is windowpane. This technique framed the flowers with no color behind them, so the yellow color of the background doesn't mix with the red of the flowers (creating orange flowers).

Abutilon flowers don't grow in the east because they can't take the cold, so the first time I saw the flower on a vase, I couldn't identify it. Then I got help from a gentleman in California who was growing the flower. It's a pretty flower that's depicted beautifully on this vase, utilizing the windowpane technique, so the pink-red of the flowers doesn't mix with the yellow of the background. Great footed shape, 6½" tall x 6½" diameter. Signed in cameo on the side of the vase. Mint condition.

Gallé blownout vases with an extra layer of color are rarer and more attractive than vases without one. In this case the white layer creates better contrast and opacity, making the flowers pop.  This is a special example.  6½" tall.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Clematis flowers are gorgeous in person and equally beautiful when depicted on Gallé vases. This example is no exception. The color is lovely and the workmanship is very careful and precise. Additionally the windowpane technique was used to frame the flowers, so the yellow color of the background doesn't mix with the red of the flowers. The techniques were acid-etching, followed by wheel-polishing.

The shape is elegant, bulbous in the center, but flattened, like a pillow, with a flared mouth. The quality is superior. Signed in cameo on the side of the vase. 7" tall. Mint condition.

Cyclamen is such a pretty flower. We grow it often in pots on the window sill. This example has beautiful strong red flowers on a yellow background. The detail and workmanship is excellent and representative of the better, earlier work by Gallé. The love the bulbous, squat shape. 4½" tall x 6½" diam. Signed. Mint condition.

This example has very pretty yellow-orange rowan berries. The rowans, also known as mountain-ashes, are shrubs or trees in the genus Sorbus of the rose family, Rosaceae. Gallé mostly used local flora for their subject matter, so that means they grew in France.

All Gallé blownout vases are important, as is this example of a Crocus vase. The colors are lovely blues and purples, on a shaded amber to lemon yellow background. This is a truly gorgeous, monumental (15¾") vase with exquisite red phlox on an amber-yellow background. The shape is classical and sophisticated. It's everything you could ask for in a large Gallé vase. Cameo signature on the side "Gallé". Mint condition.

Gallé didn't put many insects on vases. They're quintessentially Art Nouveau, so they add interest, rarity and value when they're present.

This beautiful example has a big beetle among colorful oak leaves. The shading in the leaves goes from dark charcoal to stunning cerulean blue, all against a shaded salmon-colored background. The workmanship is outstanding, including wheel-polishing after the acid-etching, which results in a shine to the raised areas only.

The kingfisher bird is very rare subject matter for Gallé. This example is on a special shape called a pilgrim vase. The two molten-applied handles add a nice touch and raise the level of sophistication. The color scheme is typically Gallé. You often see it used with the same lake and water lilies, but sometimes with dragonflies. It's beautiful. The vase is fully decorated all the way around. Impressive size at 11½" tall. 

Chrysanthemums are very beautiful flowers, so it's not surprising that Gallé used them to decorate vases. This example has exceptional color and detail, which two huge flowers. Additionally the windowpane technique was used to frame the flowers, so the yellow color of the background doesn't mix with the blue of the flowers. (Otherwise the flowers would look green.) The shape is a really great rounded square, so it's both beautiful and very desirable. Nice cabinet size at 5¾" tall. This Gallé shape is referred to as a pilgrim form. It comes in many sizes and is a desirable shape. This example is probably the smallest of the group at 5½" tall. It's diminutive and very cute. The decoration is red geraniums. (Thanks to Johny Coninx for the flower identification.) The color is beautiful and the workmanship is superior. It's a great vase for collectors looking for smaller examples for their limited space. Interestingly, it's signed twice, one above the other. The higher signature is cameo and the lower signature is acid-etched. My guess is the cameo signature wasn't coming out right, so they added a second. First time I've seen this. Mint condition.

Blownout vases are rarer and more desirable than their non-blownout counterparts. This model with clematis flowers comes in several color variations. This example, with yellow flowers, is one of the rarest and most beautiful, with striking colors. Perfect cabinet size at 9" tall and bulbous. Cameo signature on the side of the vase Gallé. Superb condition except for the most minor polishing on one inch of the top rim (only mentioned for accuracy).

I've had more than my share of Gallé lamps over 50 years, but this is the best and the biggest. It's museum-quality and truly killer!

The chrysanthemum flowers are gorgeous, with intense, beautiful, blue, purple and yellow colors. The flowers are all windowpane, meaning the yellow glass layer on the interior of the shade, behind each of the flowers, is etched away. It keeps the color of the flowers pure, instead of combining the blue and yellow layers to get green flowers. Two butterflies on the top of shade are a fantastic bonus.

The lamp measures a massive 20½" diameter x 30" tall. It will not fit in your cabinet, but rather needs its own place of honor in your home. Fully signed, both base and shade. Mint condition.

Gallé lamps do not get better than this! It's for the most important collections.

Two of the most special and beautiful vases Gallé ever produced were the Seagulls and the Polar Bear vases. This is only the second Seagulls vase I've ever owned and it's a stunner. The colors and workmanship are head and shoulders better than most Gallé vases. The birds and waves are so realistic, you can practically reach out and touch them.

The size is substantial at 14" tall x 11" diameter. It's a special, important vase, museum-quality, for the best collections.

Most of the time Gallé plums are fairly muted in color, but this example is the BEST plum blownout with spectacular, intense green and yellow colors. It doesn't get any better.

The best plum vase there is is for the BEST collections. At 13" tall and bulbous, its size is considerable. Engraved signature "Gallé" on the side of the vase. Mint condition.

Gallé produced approximately 50 different varieties of blownout (mold-blown) vases. This example is of Apple Blossoms. It's a rare, important vase in a nice big size, 13¾". The color varies quite a bit from example to example. This one has striking color.

Gallé made many scenic vases, but few of them of the quality of this vase. The scene is the Basilica of St.-Nicholas-de-Port in the small town of Saint-Nicolas-de-Port, in the east of France, near Nancy. The quality, color and detail are amazing. I guess you would call the cathedral the front of the vase, but the back is even better.

The cameo signature "Gallé" is found in the background, toward the bottom of the vase.

The shape is quite nice -- flattened, with a soft shoulder. It's a wonderful, monumental vase, 17" tall, belonging in the best collections.

Gallé produced approximately 50 different models of blownout vases.This example is called Rowanberry, part of the rose family. I think Gallé took artistic license with this vase as all the photos I’ve been able to find show the berries as orange or red. Regardless, it’s rare and beautiful, with no grinding (as found on too many examples).

Fire-polishing is a technique where a broad flame was used to heat and melt the surface of a vase. The process results in a shiny overall surface. It's a technique that Gallé used infrequently, but with great success, as on this vase.

The vase is decorated with bindweed flowers, on an elegant shape. They're the loveliest shade of cerulean blue, on a soft aqua-colored background. The pastel colors work perfectly together.

The size is a nice and big at 15½" tall. The very fancy signature, Gallé, is found in the background toward the bottom. Mint condition.

I've owned many Gallé scenic mountain vases over the years, so I can state categorically that this is one of the best. The colors are amazing -- so much beautiful blue. How about the ring of blue color below the rim? I've never seen it before and it's so nice! If you like Gallé scenics, this one is killer. Graceful teardrop shape. Nice big size at 12" tall. Etched signature in the trees. Mint condition.

Red and yellow is one of the most desirable color combinations for Gallé vases. This example is filled with gorgeous red tulips, with a band of yellow at the top. The bulbous shape is elegant and the size is substantial, at 15" tall. Big, but not too big. The fancy signature Gallé is acid etched in the middle of the tulips on the reverse side. Mint condition.

The banjo is and was one of Gallé's most successful shapes. Some collectors have put together huge collections of only this shape. This example, with Rio de Janeiro decoration, is the rarest of all. It comes in several color combinations but vivid blue and purple is the best. With all of the thousands and thousands of Gallé vases I've bought and sold over the years, this is the first time I have owned a Gallé Rio de Janeiro banjo vase.

Interestingly, Gallé actually put the name Rio de Janeiro on the vase. It's found on the side of the vase near the bottom. It's close to the very fancy Gallé signature.

The banjo shape is one of Gallé's most popular. Collectors who collect by shape are very attracted to it. The difference here is that this example is oversized. Most banjo vases are 7". This one is the much rarer 10" model.

Roses are great subject matter and these roses have wonderful color against a lovely yellow background. Signed in cameo on the side. Mint condition.

Gallé didn't make many miniatures.  This wonderful example is early, from the Cristallerie period, late 19th century, with transparent amber glass, typical of the period.  The detail of the thistle flower and leaf is beautiful with an extremely unusual flower in full bloom painted on the inside!! (see detail in photo 2).   The workmanship is all hand-painted with glass enamel paint and fired.  The snake handle makes this little beauty special.  Signed.  Mint condition.

Gallé produced many scenic vases, but a few stand out from the crowd. This example has exceptional color and detail, immediately making it better than most scenic vases. The scene completely surrounds the vase. Additionally it pictures a man with a hat standing by the water, making the subject matter quite rare. It's a substantial vase at 14¼". Beautiful cameo signature on the side Gallé. Mint condition.

Gallé produced many scenic vases, but fewer than half of them have mountains in the distance. This example has an exceptionally pretty scene, with excellent artwork and color. The shape is classic and called a pilgrim vase. Very nice size at 8½" tall. Signed. Mint condition.

Gallé produced many different models of blownout vases. Apples are rare subject matter, so it's difficult to find any, let alone the best example that exists. The color and workmanship are killer. It's for the best collections. Signed and mint condition.

Gallé used a technique called window pane to make sure the color of the flowers didn't mix with the background colors. In this example, the vivid blue and purple of the flowers doesn't mix with the yellow of the background, unintentionally creating green flowers. The flowers appear against a white window. The result is a truly outstanding example of Gallé's work.

The shape is an elegant, flattened form, in a super cabinet size, 10" wide x 4¾" deep x 8" tall. Acid-etched signature in the background, toward the bottom, Gallé. Mint condition.

This is a special example for the discriminating collector.

Earlier Gallé production vases were more carefully crafted than vases after his death in 1904. This example is exceptional. The workmanship, colors and contrast are head over heels better than the typical vase. If you're looking to add a truly outstanding vase to your collection, this is it. Very nice size at 13½". Beautiful cameo signature on the side, Gallé. Mint condition.

The addition of an extra layer of glass to a cameo vase results in more opaque flowers. That's a very good thing because the contrast increases substantially, making the flowers "pop". That's the result in this very beautiful Gallé floral vase with striking powder blue flowers with purple highlights. It's not your ordinary vase. Lovely footed shape. Nice cabinet size at 6¾" tall. Etched signature "Gallé" in the background, toward the bottom. Mint condition.

Lake Como is situated on the border of Italy and Switzerland. It's a beautiful lake that Gallé depicted on various sized vases. This example is 8" tall. The scene is complete around the entire circumference with azure blue mountains and water. The  details are precise and the colors all work beautifully together. It's a lovely vase. Fancy cameo signature on the side near the bottom. Mint condition.

I don't often find large Gallé vases with the color and quality of this example. At 14¼", it's substantial, with a great shape -- a tapering square with rounded corners, a shoulder and a flaring mouth. The workmanship and detail are both very high quality, plus the color is strong. It's hard to find a finer example in this nice big size. Signed. Mint condition.

It's rare that I get a pair of anything, so it's especially nice to get a pair of attractive Gallé Magnolia vases. They were born together and are as close as a pair can be. (No two are ever identical, because they were decorated by hand.) I'm willing to sell them individually or as a pair (with a discount for the purchase of the pair). Very colorful. Great big flowers. 10¼" tall. Etched signature on the foot. Mint condition.

Gallé did very few vases with fish. Occasionally you can find one with underwater plants, but rarely fish. This compote has three beautiful fish swimming among underwater foliage. It's a stunning object, nicely sized at 5½" tall x 8½" diameter. Cameo signature "Gallé" in the background. Mint condition.

All Gallé blownout vases are important, as is this example of a Crocus vase. The colors are lovely reds and oranges, on a lemon yellow background. Beautiful color, condition and shape. 8½" tall. Signed. Mint condition.

It's not often that a Gallé vase has such exceptional color and workmanship. The iris flowers are beautifully portrayed and realistic. The vase is also sizeable at 17¼". It's a truly superior example. Cameo signature "Gallé" toward the bottom. Mint condition.

Early Gallé glass from the 19th century was clear with enameled workmanship and some acid-etching. It is referred to as Cristallerie glass. This superb perfume bottle is exemplary, with beautifully hand-painted orchids. The original stopper has matching decoration. The unique form of the perfume bottle is flattened. Signed underneath with a fancy acid-etched and enameled signature "Emile Gallé" and "déposé". 4¼" tall. Mint condition.

An extra layer of color does wonders for any Gallé vase. In this example, there are three layers -- green, blue and very dark brown. The blues and greens were used for the flowers and the dark brown for the branches and base of the vase. The difference is striking and beautiful.  Nice size at 11" tall. Etched signature on the side of the vase, toward the bottom. Mint condition.

I haven't owned many Gallé vases with iris flowers. I wouldn't call them rare, just uncommon. This example is very pretty, with pastel blue and lavender flowers against a frosted background. I particularly like the frosted backgrounds because the colors of the flowers stay truer with nice contrast. The footed shape is elegant and the size is a nice big 16½". Signed in cameo on the side of the vase. Mint condition.

Dragonflies are the best subject matter for French cameo glass. They are the epitome of Art Nouveau and essentially double the value of a vase without a dragonfly. Gallé loved dragonflies and used them from time to time. They are very desirable. 

This example is what you should look for. It's got the best color I've ever had on a Gallé banjo vase. The usual color scheme is to use light orange dragonflies. I've had them in blue before but never with such intense blues and purples on a salmon background. This example is the cat's meow.

Gallé didn't make nearly as many jars as vases. This example has a rare shape that I haven't owned before. It has a lovely harbor scene with sailboats and a complementary lid with a bird flying overhead. It's a very nice, unusual item. 6½" tall. Signed in cameo on the side. Mint condition.
